Spectacular scenery, adrenaline pumping adventure tourism activities, award winning wineries, world class golf courses….Southern Hemisphere’s premier four season tourism destination Queenstown has it all.
Located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu in a most beautiful alpine setting, Queenstown offers everything you need for a wonderful holiday in the Southern Lakes area. Numerous bike and walking trails, bungy jumping and jet boat rides, cafes and restaurants and winter skiing ensures visitors have plenty to choose from. The spectacular scenery sets the stage and one can easily understand why many scenes in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were filmed locally.
Within 40 minutes drive of Queenstown is another alpine resort called Wanaka. While not as well known as Queenstown, Wanaka has many similar attractions and its lake side setting and surrounding mountains gives it a charm all of its own.
Both these popular holiday destinations are popular throughout the year. Many festivals are held in the area and while in summer the lakeside location of Queenstown and Wanaka encourage a lot of water sports, in winter the snow covered spectacular surrounding mountains attract skiers and boarders from around the globe.
Discover for yourself why the Southern Lakes region is a “must visit” area when you are holidaying in New Zealand.

The enthusiasm and passion John and Amanda Cushen have for Queenstown Country Lodge is truly infectious and the understated elegance of the accommodation beguiling.
Just 2.5kms from central Queenstown, the Lodge is set in a civilised rural area, with pet sheep, homegrown vegetables and an outdoor spa pool. The scenic Lake Hayes walkway can be accessed from the 'back paddock'.
Proximity to Queenstown allows guests, ferried to and fro by John, to enjoy the delights of Queenstown's many restaurants and cafes. They may rather wish to take advantage of Amanda's culinary expertise and John's extensive knowledge of local wines by opting for dinner 'at home'. The early evening drink with the hosts can be an educational wine tasting experience for those who wish to learn more about the Pinot Noirs and Rieslings the area is so renowned for. John, who has worked professionally as a wine guide in the area, can arrange and host wine tours for his guests.
The couple's experience in tourism spans a number of years working in Fiordland guiding wilderness tours and a stint running a super yacht for an American client necessitating considerable lengths of time to be spent in the Mediterranean. They are well versed in the art of anticipating exactly what their guests require.
Queenstown Country Lodge was purchased seven years ago with the intention of John and Amanda 'coming home' to set it up as a Lodge. Having undertaken an extensive refurbishment and some structural additions the Cushens have created a supremely comfortable, spacious environment for their guests.
