Oraka Seaviews epitomises escapism. A very pleasant 40 minute drive from Invercargill through rural scenery and I arrived at stunning Colac Bay; where the aptly named Oraka Seaviews lies at the south western end of this wide, spectacular ocean beach. The expansive, uninterrupted view from the units across the entire bay simply took my breath away.
The two self-contained units are delightfully presented, with simple yet pleasant decor reflecting the ocean theme. This is the perfect spot for couples or groups to really get away from it all; relax and soak in the ever changing mood of the southern coastline. But the area also offers much to do; surfing, boating, walking, fishing, collecting mussels or paua for dinner. A picnic set is provided so perhaps head out for the day, roam the hills and explore the area. Nearby Riverton offers quaint arts and crafts shopping and a museum highlighting the local heritage. Further afield, jet boating and heli adventures are 45 minutes away; and Colac Bay is well situated on a scenic route to Te Anau.
The units are well equipped for dining in, a barbecue is also available, but I can also recommend taking a stroll to The Pavilion, specialising in local produce and seafood, the restaurant, cafe and bar is also frequented by the friendly locals.
Come and stay on the secluded and serene Colic Bay beachfront, it truly is a retreat.
