Only a short and spectacular 20 minute drive from Queenstown, you will find yourself in the alpine oasis setting of Skyview Magic. Located on Crown Terrace above the Wakitipu Basin the views are true to its name - magic! 360 degrees of mountain and lake, fields of tall wild grasses, young forests and, in season, colourful flowers.
I was utterly charmed by this rustic lodge and its glorious setting. It was a delight to discover the detailing and finishing of the interior features each room presented, all designed and many hand crafted by hosts Jef and Robina; in particular the four bathrooms are quite stunning and each unique. A feeling of warmth exudes from the timber interior - the "puzzle walls", recycled kauri floor, interwoven driftwood bannisters and timber beams. This substantial lodge is welcoming and full of character.
Situated on 168 acres, peace and serenity are assured. Jef maintains over three kilometres of walking tracks over the property which take in the incredible views; coupled with the 25-metre solar-heated, indoor chlorine-free swimming pool and even a climbing wall, Skyview Magic has much to offer guests on site. I was not at all surprised to hear that many guests barely leave the lodge, and some not at all during their stay - it certainly did cast a wonderful spell over me.
