You need to see the magnificence of Lake Manapouri and the majestic peaks of Fiordland National Park to understand how beautiful they are.  Cathedral Peaks faces directly out to this scene. With three well appointed rooms all affording views over the lake or mountains, gorgeous local artworks adorning the walls, fine linens and space this is a real home-away-from-home with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The two ground floor rooms are separated by a guest dining room and lounge, furnished with style and elegance and availing guests with their own private space or place to socialize if you are traveling as a group. The upstairs room is equally gracious.  Janice and Neal are well traveled and happy to help with any planning as there is a myriad of things to do. However no stop in Manapouri would be complete without taking the trip across the lake, bus tour to Doubtful Sound and out toward the sea and then on the return a tour to the bowels of the Manapouri Power Station project, rated is one of the world's great wonders.

Cathedral Peaks was the perfect place to stay, being only a short walk to local restaurants, the lakeside and the wharf or alternatively as we did, just to sit outside on our terrace with a wine in hand and simply be entranced by the ever-changing view.
