This view took my breath away. In this highly elevated position, the outlook over Tasman Bay is magic.
The Wheelhouse Inn accommodation consists of five individual holiday homes. The Wheelhouse and the Chart House Main Deck have one bedroom while the Captain's Quarters, the Crow's Nest and the Chart House Upper Deck are all two bedrooms. These modern homes have large fronts that are mostly glass so there is no shortage of light or access to the view.
With the skilled use of timber and quality furnishings, the décor is comfortable and uncluttered. The nautical theme using pictures and old boating paraphernalia adds interest, even for landlubbers.
All houses have well-equipped, kitchens and lounges with great views, televisions, CD players, DVD's and broadband internet. The wonderful decks are perfect for those BBQ's and relaxing with one of the local wines in hand taking in the sun and the stunning vista.
The wonderful hosts live up the drive, but they make an effort not to interrupt your stay but are only a moment away if you require assistance. Just five minutes from the heart of Nelson and located up on a hill that is surrounded by trees and shrubs, it is very peaceful however the cafes on the waterfront are only a short distance away. That is if you are able to tear yourself away from your glorious nest on the hillside.
