Every once in a while I found myself at a place that I never wanted to leave. Peach Gully Cottage is one of them. Tucked away on a large private section is a cute, fairytale, one-bedroom cottage that is charming, luxurious and full of character.
Built in 1914, it has been restored and re-decorated with contemporary furniture and modern comforts. The bathroom of Peach Gully Cottage, with its old claw-foot bath, is delightful and the kitchen has all mod cons, including a microwave and dishwasher.
The great stretch of Waimarama Beach is only a short drive away and the position of the cottage is ideal, not only for a summer stay, but as a romantic winter retreat.
Hosts, Craig and Kristal, provide the fresh ingredients for breakfast but guests provide any other meals for themselves. I stocked up while I was in the township of Havelock North, which is about a twenty-minute drive away. The large garden surrounding the cottage is shared with the host's home and set into it are a tennis court and a swimming pool. I enjoyed a quick dip and then went for a short, fresh walk across the farm.
