Just one hour from Wellington in the heart of the world class wine growing area of Martinborough there is a real gem, a destination.
Parehua Country Estate, set on five acres of park like grounds has a mix of suites, cottages and two bedroom villas. The furnishings are exquisite and every detail has been attended to. Artworks in toning hues adorn the walls. All the rooms are spacious with fireplaces and outdoor areas however it was the clever design of bedroom verses entertaining area that impressed. Bathrooms and kitchens have also been given the lavish treatment.
Martinborough is well known for its wineries and what better way than peddle power on one of the bikes supplied to get acquainted with the vines. There are also farm tours, quad bikes, golf and so many other attractions. Our choice was however to stay right here and enjoy a game of tennis, a swim followed by a glass of local wine overlooking the lake and the vineyard.
What a perfect place for that romantic wedding. No need to stress with planning here. All that is taken care of for you. There is no shortage of cafes nearby so dinner was an easy option. Breakfast was an occasion in the pavilion, a great place to attack the next day's activities.
