Margie and Denis provide self-contained, self-catering accommodation in three charming cottages situated in the Havelock North hills among gardens and trees on a semi-rural property, not far from the centre of the town.
Each cottage reflects the style of earlier days but has all the comfort and convenience of today. Two cottages were brought to the site and restored using traditional methods and the third was built with recycled timber. The smaller cottage dates from the early 1900's; the larger cottages are fully equipped houses with kitchen, laundries, bathrooms, separate bedrooms and attractive sitting rooms with comfortable sofas and open fires. The bedrooms are separate and one has an additional ensuite double bedroom. The main rooms in these cottages open onto wrap-around verandahs with rural views and are sunny and peaceful.
In summer they are popular for barbecues and lunches or evening drinks. I stayed in the small cottage, which is big on charm and has a large bedroom and bathroom. It is great for a night or two and the larger cottages are more suitable for longer stay. Mountain bikes are provided if guests want to cycle around the village and hills and they are welcome to use the lawn tennis court.
