Arapata Lodge

Havelock North in the heart of Hawkes Bay is perfectly located to enjoy all that this area is renowned for, wine, fruit orchards, art and cultural experiences and endless days in the sun.

Our choice to stay at Arapata Lodge to really get to know this area proved to be an inspired decision.  Entering through traditional wooden gates and up the drive lined with mature trees, we passed the magnificent original homestead before reaching the lodge set in its own garden.  We are greeted and shown through this glorious 3 bedroom self contained villa by our host Ben whose family have owned this station for many years.

The location is instantly therapeutic. Throw open the French doors from the lounge to the deck and you are surrounded by birdsong and swaying trees beyond the sweeping lawn. The elegant lounge and kitchen with fireplace is just so inviting. The dining table which seats up to 12 was the scene of many memorable meals and discussions on the finer points of local wines we had gathered on our tours of the vineyards. Everything you could wish for in entertainment is at your fingertips.

Outside there is a pentaque court, the use of a pool and the most relaxing of gazebo's cloaked with shade-making grapevines. Additional loft accommodation is available for extra visitors if required. Whether you plan to stay just a weekend or a whole summer this is a tranquil haven.
