Ferry Landing Lodge

What a history! A visit to Ferry Landing Lodge will have you walking the very footsteps that Captain Cook made in 1769. It is also situated right next door to the historical Whitianga Rock Pa site, and if that is not enough to complete the picture our host Rob is a direct descendant of Robert Wigmore, one of the first settlers in this area.

Ferry Landing Lodge is perched right on the waters edge over-looking Mercury Bay towards the township of Whitianga. It is an oasis of peace and harmony. We could not have hoped for a more relaxed and friendly welcome from Pam and Rob. It's not long before we are sitting down to hot drinks and muffins.

Our 2 bedroom suite is spacious and everything is here to make this our home away from home. It is just a short ferry ride to the restaurants of Whitianga for dinner or we could have chosen to go to Hahei or the attractions of Hot Water Beach, both only a short drive away. Breakfast the next morning is sumptuous and includes the most divine muesli, fruit and preserves, most of which is grown on the property.

There are just so many things to do in the area, kayaking, fishing, Cathedral Cove, however we can recommend that you make the most of Rob's wonderful maps and join him on a walk through history. Whatever you choose, expect awesome scenery and Kiwi hospitality at it finest - informal, fun and oh! so genuine. It does not come better than this.
