Driving up to Kotare Lodge is an experience in itself, up a tree-lined road you reach its spectacular hilltop location and magical 360 degree views of Hauraki Gulf's azure waters, island jewels and surrounding lush countryside. The lodge is impeccably maintained, impressive in design and tropically landscaped.
Our lower level private guest rooms were luxuriously appointed, beautifully furnished and -as with the rest of the home - oozing in style. Both bedrooms and the living room opened out to our own pool and barbecue area. The apartment's modern kitchen was well-equipped with essentials and Judy's breakfast provisions were delicious. where we soaked in those awe-inspiring views contemplating the day's adventures. Kotare Lodge run regular fishing and sightseeing tours aboard their 54' Riviera launch (also available for private charter). Next time we will further explore the bay's best secret spots, this visit we relished the pure escapism, an hour from Auckland it was an idyllic break.
