The breathtaking 30-minute scenic flight from Auckland seemed a distant memory as we drove along the private access road towards Bay Lodge. My attention was immediately drawn to the front of the cottage and the spectacular view before me; ten acres of native bush and the deep blue of Okupu Bay below.
The music from within welcomed me into the tastefully furbished one bedroom cottage . This cottage was indeed perfect for my weekend away from the city; chilled wine in the fridge; flowers and fruit; breakfast supplies and all of my favourite mod cons. I couldn't help but relax and listen to the waves and Tui calling.
Follow the private bush track for a few minutes and you will find yourself on a beautiful sandy beach where you can swim, and sunbathe in peace and quiet. Guests can fish off the rocks or use the dinghy to catch a snapper or two for dinner. They can also check with Christine and John about their luxury yacht charter, adding a whole new dimension to romantic.
Bay Lodge is perfect for a weekend or as a place to just relax and get back to nature, then finishing your day on the deck, in the warm evening air, sipping wine and watching the spectacular sunsets
