Admirals Landing Devonport Waterfront

What a stunning Devonport harbourside location! Admirals Landing is a delightful boutique bed and breakfast in the heart of this famed village heritage area with Auckland city shimmering in the distance. Had we chosen to take the 10 minute ferry ride from the city it is just a short walk across the road to Joy and Howard's welcoming accommodation.

This new, traditionally styled home blends into the historic streetscape and the seaside cottage garden is lovely. Both hosts offered a warm welcome, showing us to our comfortable suite on the upper level. Our aptly named Waterfront room was spacious, impeccably furnished and had the added bonus of a dressing room. The sunny Juliet balcony afforded views over a heritage zone. Delicious gourmet breakfasts on the balcony were a highlight of my stay.

This site was once home to an early 20^th century villa which garnered a little salacious history of its own prior to succumbing to a spectacular fire in 1992, Joy is best to recount these details… A historical buff, Joy's enthusiasm was infectious a she guided us on a walk up nearby Mt Victoria and along the waterfront, pointing out two particularly beautiful Victorian villas. I appreciated the bucketfuls of local history including the region's Maori heritage she imparted, all part of her exceptional service. Both she and Howard, a forensic dentist, belong to the Museum Institute and Opera Society. History, culture and comfort at Admiral's Landing.
